What the inspector wrote

On October 1, 2025, at 10:08 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elizabeth George conducted an unannounced annual random inspection at the above-mentioned family child care home (FCCH). LPA met with Licensee Yolanda Calderon and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. At the time of the inspection 9 children were present along with Assistant, Mirna Estrada (cleared and associated). Licensee stated that children have access to the living room, bathroom, kitchen, day care room and backyard. While the remainder of the home is completely inaccessible to children in care. The home was orderly and clean with proper ventilation for all children in care. The bathroom used for care is clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that sharps and knives are stored in the kitchen in a high cabinet inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed that cleaning compounds are stored above sink, inaccessible to children in care. Toys, furniture and equipment in the facility are age appropriate. LPA observed required licensing forms and documents posted within the day care room of the facility. LPA observed a dual smoke and carbon monoxide detector which was tested and found operable at 10:24 AM. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher that was purchased 5/21/25. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. The most recent fire drill was conducted and documented on 9/5/25. LPA observed the backyard to be completely fenced. Toys and play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate and in good conditions. LPA observed one shed in the outdoor play area that is locked and inaccessible to the children in care. One side of the yard is gated off and inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed no bodies of water on site. Licensee informed LPA no firearms or ammunition are in the home. Continued on 809-C A sample of children\342\200\231s records was reviewed. All records reviewed are current. Facilities current roster of children was reviewed by the LPA during inspection with all children present noted in the roster. LPA observed infant sleep logs. Licensee\342\200\231s Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications are current and expire on 11/10/26. Mandated Reporter Training Certification expires on 7/30/27. Assistants Mandated Reported certification current and expires 7/30/27. Staff records were reviewed and found to be complete. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Continued on 809-C During the exit interview, the Licensee Yolanda Calderon, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. No deficiencies were given during today\342\200\231s visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted, appeals rights were provided and report was reviewed with the licensee, Yolanda Calderon.
