What the inspector wrote

On December 7th, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an announced Case Management visit. LPA met with director Serineh Vartani and discussed the purpose of the inspection. On October 2nd, 2023, licensee applied to decrease preschool capacity from 30 to 25 children. The preschool program operates Monday \342\200\223 Friday 8:00AM \342\200\223 5:00PM and currently utilizes classrooms #1, and #2, for care and supervision. LPA observed both classrooms to contain age-appropriate toys and equipment, ample ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons and toxins, drinking water and two sinks and two toilets available for use. Carbon monoxide was tested and functioning at the time of the inspection. The fire extinguisher was last serviced on 12/6/2023. The outdoor play area consists of two separated spaces and contained by permitter fencing. Outdoor area includes soft padding to absorbs falls, age-appropriate toys and equipment, water available, and ample shade. No bodies of water were present at the time of the inspection. Licensee requested decrease of capacity due to removing partial space of classroom #2 to accommodate an office area. Facility is currently licensed for 30 children. Based on measurements, facility can continue to operate at a capacity of 30 children. At the time of the inspection, director stated to LPA would like to continue operation at maximum capacity of 30 and requested to withdraw application for decrease. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. CEO was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. The University of California Santa Barbara Office of Environmental and Health Safety conducted a fire inspection on 11/20/2023 and cleared facility for childcare. Total indoor classroom area measures at 1089.13 sq.ft. which accommodates applicant\342\200\231s requested capacity. LPA reviewed and measured outdoor area, no alterations have been made and can continue to operate at current licensed capacity. Current licensed capacity use of 30 pending confirmation of fire marshal, letter of withdraw from applicant and manager approval. No deficiencies were cited during today\342\200\231s inspection. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with director Serineh Vartani Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
