What the inspector wrote

On January 8, 2025, at 9:16 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elizabeth George conducted an unannounced Required 3 - Year inspection at the above mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Director, Yvonne Lowe, and discussed the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 16 children and 3 staff were present. LPA in the company of the Director toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC consists of three classrooms and an outdoor play area. LPA observed required licensing forms to be posted on the wall near the entrance to the classrooms. LPA observed the classrooms to be clean and orderly. Age appropriate toys and equipment are in good condition. Director informed LPA cleaning compounds are stored on the top shelf of a bookcase. LPA observed cabinets and drawers that are not secured to be free of hazards. There are sufficient restrooms for children which LPA observed to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed smoke detector and fire alarm which Director stated they checked regularly to ensure they are functioning. Carbon Monoxide detector was tested and found to be operable at 9:53 AM. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher last serviced on 9/19/24. LPA observed the outdoor play yard to be completely surrounded by a chain link fence with sufficient space for children\342\200\231s activities. The CCC provides water to children via pitchers filled with filtered water while some children bring their personal water bottles. LPA observed age appropriate equipment and play structure. LPA notes the play structure's fall zones have sufficient cushioning. A samplings of children's files were conducted. LPA observed all children's files to be current and complete. LPA reviewed files for the staff present which were found to be current and complete as well. LPA reminded Director it is their responsibility to ensure staff files are complete and current. LPA notes all staff have current Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certificates which expire June 2025. 809-C CONTINUED PAGE 2 CCC only provides snack, LPA observed kitchen to be clean and free of any defects. LPA observed the sign in/ out sheets to filled out appropriately for the children that are present. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of \342\200\234medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. No deficiencies were given during todays visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Appeals rights were provided. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director, Yvonne Lowe.
