Routine inspection (3-year)·July 9, 2025

On July 9, 2025, at 3:20 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elizabeth George and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Ana Tolentino conducted an unannounced required 3 year inspection at the above-mentioned family child care home (FCCH). LPA and LPM met with Licensee Josefina Aguayo and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. At the time of the inspection 12 children were present along with two assistants (both cleared and associated). Licensee stated that children have access to the day-care room, one bathroom and front yard. While the remainder of the home is off limits. The home is made off limits by means of a baby gate. The home was orderly and clean with proper ventilation for all children in care. The bathroom used for care is clean and free of toxins. Licensee stated cleaning compounds are stored in the bathroom inside a locked closet. Toys, furniture and equipment in the facility are age appropriate. Upon arrival LPA observed an infant in a bouncer as well as a jumper in the front yard. Assistant removed infant from bouncer during the inspection and removed all banned items from licensed areas. One infant was observed in the home to be napping with a blanket, which licensee removed from play pen during the inspection. Licensee was reminded of safe sleep regulations. LPA observed required licensing forms and documents posted by the entrance of the facility. LPA observed a dual smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector which was tested and found operable at 4:33pm. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher that was serviced 5/2/25. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. The most recent fire drill was conducted and documented on 5/5/25. Continued on 809-C LPA observed the front yard to be completely fenced in by means of an expandable baby gate and pipe and netting in the grass area. The FCCH was observed to have plenty of shade for the children in care. Toys and play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate and in good conditions. There is one small breed dog in the home which licensee states is up to date on vaccines. LPA observed no bodies of water on site. Licensee informed LPA no firearms or ammunition are in the home. A sample of children\342\200\231s records was reviewed. All records reviewed are current. Facilities current roster of children was reviewed by the LPA during inspection. Infant sleep logs were reviewed and found to be complete. Licensee\342\200\231s and assistants Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications are current. Both licensee and assistants Mandated Reporter Training Certification are current. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the Licensee, Josefina Aguayo, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. No deficiencies were given during today\342\200\231s visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
