What the inspector wrote

On 04/03/2025, at 9:29 AM Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Bill Billones and Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection at the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPAs met with director Sara Valerio and discussed the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 17 children and 3 staff were present. LPAs in the company of the director toured the interior and exterior of the facility. The CCC consists of 2 connected rooms and outdoor play area. LPAs observed required licensing forms to be posted on the wall in the classroom. LPAs observed the classroom to be clean and orderly. LPAs observed trash cans with tight fitting lids and appropriate number of cubbies for children in care. Age-appropriate toys and equipment are in good condition. Director states meals are not provided to children and that children bring a lunchbox. Director also states they partner with an outside vendor and give parents the option of ordering hot meals online and having it delivered to the school. Director informed LPAs cleaning compounds are stored in a locked janitorial closet outside of classroom on school grounds. LPAs observed secured cabinets and drawers to be free of hazards. There is a restroom with one sink and one toilet for children in the classroom which LPAs observed to be clean and free of hazards. Director states the outdoor bathroom and Parish Hall bathroom are also available for children if needed. LPAs observed smoke detector and fire alarm which director stated they are checked regularly to ensure they are functioning. Carbon Monoxide detector was tested and found to be operable at 10:10 AM. LPAs observed a regulation fire extinguisher last serviced on 08/19/2024. Continued on 809-C LPAs observed the outdoor play area to be surrounded by a chain link fence with sufficient space for children\342\200\231s activities. Drinking water is made available to children via bottled water and children's personal water bottles are filled and used during the day. LPAs observed age-appropriate equipment and play structure in good repair. LPAs notes the play structure's fall zones have sufficient cushioning. A sampling of children's files was reviewed. LPAs observed all children's files to be current and complete. LPAs reviewed files for the staff present which were found to be current and complete. LPAs reminded director it is their responsibility to ensure staff files are complete and current. LPAs note all staff have current Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certificates and Mandated Reporter training. LPAs observed fire drills are being conducted and logged with the last fire drill on 02/28/2025. LPAs observed the sign in and out sheets to be filled out appropriately. LPAs did not observe any bodies of water on site. There are no firearms or ammunition on CCC site. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPAs verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . Last lead testing was conducted on 08/19/2023. Continued on 809-C. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. No deficiencies were given during today\342\200\231s visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted, appeals rights were provided, and report was reviewed with the director, Sara Valerio.
