Routine inspection (3-year)·November 13, 2023

On November 13 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required - 3 Year inspection at the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Director Terese Munoz-Hill and informed them the purpose of the inspection. LPA in the company of the Director toured the interior and exterior of the facility. At the time of the inspection 53 children were present and 8 staff were providing care and supervision. LPA observed required licensing documents to be posted prominently in the entrance of every classroom. The CCC consists of 4 classrooms, Preschool 1, Preschool 2, Pre-K 1 and Pre-K 2. LPA observed age appropriate toys and furnishing in the classrooms. LPA observe classrooms to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed the the children's bathroom to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed sufficient toilets and sinks to accommodate children in care. LPA observed a sample sign in and sign out sheet which is checked daily to insure that parents are signing children in and out. LPA observed outdoor area to be enclosed completely with fences. LPA observed age appropriate play equipment in the outdoor area. LPA observed a storage shed that remains secured and inaccessible to children in care. LPA did not observe any toxins or hazardous materials accessible to children in care. LPA observed an empty wading pool and reminded Director that they must empty the wading pool after every use. LPA observed the CCC's menu. The CCC provides an AM and PM snack. LPA observed the kitchen area used to prepare the snacks to be clean. LPA reminded Director that items that expire must be thrown away. The last disaster drill was conducted on 10/19/2023. A sampling of children's records were reviewed and found to be current and complete. Staff records were CONTINUED PAGE 2 reviewed as well. Staff records were found to be current and complete. All staff has current Mandated Reporter Training and at least one staff has current Pediatric CPR/First Aid To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Licensee [or facility representative] was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee [or facility representative] and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [or facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.
