Facility-requested visit·July 12, 2024

On July 12, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an announced Case Management inspection at the above aforementioned center to ensure that health, safety, and personal rights as required by Title 22 and Health and Safety Regulations governing California Child Care Centers will be met. There were 27 children present during this inspection. The licensee applied to increase capacity to 40 children ages 2 – entry into first grade, and license enclosed outdoor art studio. The facility operates Monday – Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM. LPA met with Administrator Maria Johansson and Licensee Marcela Caceres and together toured the facility. LPA measured the on-limits areas and classrooms. The facility has a total of 5 classrooms, 4 of which are indoors and identified as classrooms 1A, 1B, #2 and #3 and 1 outdoor art studio. Parents/authorized representatives utilize written logs for signing in and out purposes. LPA observed all classrooms contained age-appropriate toys and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. LPA observed disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that could pose a danger inaccessible to children. For napping, the facility utilizes mats for napping. Fire extinguisher was serviced on 11/10/2023, carbon monoxide tested and functioning at the time of the inspection, and first aid kits available. Per licensee, no firearms or ammunition are present on property. The outdoor play area consists of ample shade, soft padding to absorb falls, water readily accessible, and age-appropriate equipment. Per licensee, no bodies of water are present on the property. Fire clearance was approved by Santa Barbara City Fire on 06/27/2024. The classrooms measure a total of 1401.98 square feet, which will accommodate licensee’s request for 40 preschoolers. The outdoor play area measures a total of 3992.63 square feet which will accommodate licensee’s request for 40 preschoolers. Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. The licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A Notice of Site Visit was given to the director and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. License pending approval.
