What the inspector wrote

On September 19th, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an announced Case Management inspection at the above aforementioned center to ensure that health, safety, and personal rights as required by Title 22 and Health and Safety Regulations governing California Child Care Centers will be met. There were 0 children present during this inspection. The licensee applied to increase the capacity of the school age license to 30 children age of transitional kindergarten \342\200\223 14 years. In addition, the licensee applied to add classroom #402 and remove classroom #403 from licensure. The facility operates Monday \342\200\223 Friday 12:00pm \342\200\223 6:00pm. This facility is located on the grounds of Los Olivos Elementary School. LPA met with administrator Kathryn Thompson and together toured the facility. The facility will utilize one classroom (#402) for care and supervision. Bathroom facilities and square footage meet the requirements under Health and Safety code 1596.806. Parents/authorized representatives utilize ePact app for signing in and out purposes. LPA observed the classroom to contain age-appropriate equipment, including tables, chairs, play materials, and other activity supplies for the children. LPA observed disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that could pose a danger inaccessible to children. Filter water and sink available for use. Fire extinguisher was serviced on 7/12/2024. Carbon monoxide tested and functioning at the time of the inspection, and first aid kits available. Per administrator, no firearms or ammunition are present on the property. The outdoor play area consists of a blacktop with various games and equipment, shade, and water available. Per administrator, no bodies of water present on property. Fire clearance was approved by Santa Barbara County Fire Department on 09/13/2024. Administrator was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. The administrator was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A Notice of Site Visit was given to the administrator and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. License pending approval. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with administrator Kathryn Thompson.
