What Happened
The unannounced annual inspection found 9 children and 2 staff in care, with infants napping and older children outside. The home had required postings, working smoke/CO detection, a fenced backyard with age-appropriate play equipment, and current fire-drill documentation. The inspector cited missing or expiring staff and child record items, including a staff MMR record gap, and noted the fire extinguisher needed annual servicing.
Observations
- Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were observed
- Fire extinguisher was purchased on 2021-03-29 and the licensee was reminded to service or replace it yearly
- Fire and disaster drills were documented every five months, with the last drill on 2021-12-06
- Assistant had no MMR vaccination record on file
- Infant sleep checks were documented every 15 minutes
- Child files were current and included emergency/identification cards
