On June 11, 2025, at 9:01 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elizabeth George conducted an unannounced required Annual Random Inspection at the above-mentioned family child care home (FCCH). LPA met with Licensee Felicia Mejia and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. At the time of the inspection 14 children were present along with Assistant, Holly Lueck. Licensee stated that children have access to the daycare room, one bathroom, and outdoor play area. While the remainder of the home is off limits to children in care. Licensee was reminded the requirement to keep off limit areas inaccessible to children in care. Bedrooms are made inaccessible to children by baby gate in the hallway. The home was orderly and clean with proper ventilation for all children in care. The bathroom used for care is clean and free of toxins. LPA observed a fireplace in the off-limits living room that has a screen covering it. LPA observed knives in the off-limit kitchen near the back of the counter. Keeping the knives out of reach of children as they passed through the kitchen to the bathroom was discussed. Medications are stored in the kitchen on a high cabinet that is inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed that cleaning compounds are stored throughout facility out of reach of children in care. Toys, furniture and equipment in the facility are age appropriate. LPA observed a baby bouncer in the play pen used for daycare which licensee stated is not used for daycare children. Licensee removed bouncer to an inaccessible area during the inspection. LPA observed required licensing forms and documents posted by the entrance of the facility. LPA observed both a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector which were tested and found operable at 9:34am. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher that was last serviced 7/8/22. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. The most recent fire drill was conducted and documented on 8/15/24. Licensee was reminded to conduct and document fire drills at least every 6 months. continued on 809-C LPA observed the backyard to be completely fenced. The FCCH was observed to have plenty of shade for the children in care. Toys and play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate and in good conditions. LPA observed small cabinets in the backyard containing toys. LPA observed a fence making one side of the backyard inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed no bodies of water on site. LPA observed two dogs in the home, licensee stated vaccines are up to date on both. Licensee informed LPA no firearms or ammunition are in the home. A sample of children\342\200\231s records was reviewed. Records reviewed were not complete. LPA discussed with licensee the requirement to keep all forms up to date in children\342\200\231s files. Facilities current roster of children was reviewed by the LPA during inspection with all children present during the inspection noted in the roster. LPA observed completed and up to date infant sleep logs. Licensee\342\200\231s and assistant\342\200\231s Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications are current and expire on 1/25/27. Licensee Mandated Reporter Training Certification expired on 7/25/24. Assistants Mandated Reported expires 8/25/26. Staff records were reviewed and found to be incomplete. LPA provided licensee with the Entrance Checklist (LIC126) as a reminder of documents required in staff records. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. continued on 809-C Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. During the exit interview, the Licensee Felicia Mejia, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
