What the inspector wrote

On 12/1/2025 at 9:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gigi Reyes conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection and Capacity Increase of the above Family Childcare Home (FCCH) and met with Licensee, Maria Arias. LPA discussed the purpose of the inspection. FCCH operates FCCH from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday- Friday. Licensee provides care for children 12 months to 6 years of age LPA in the company of Licensee toured the home. LPA observed 4children under the care of licensee. The residential home is a two-story dwelling consisting of 3 bedrooms and 3 bath. LPA observed that the bedroom downstairs which was an accessible area was converted into a play room. The home\342\200\231s living room, dining area and patio will be used for childcare services, while the home\342\200\231s second floor where bedrooms are located will be inaccessible to children. The top and bottom of the staircase are barricaded making it inaccessible. The garage is also kept inaccessible to day care children. Door garage has a door safety lock. LPA observed the age appropriate; toys play equipment and games inside and outside the home. Children's bathroom is clean and free of toxins. LPA observed required licensing forms are posted in the entry way. The licensee confirmed there are no guns or ammunitions in the home. Nobodies of water was observed. Fire extinguisher was purchased on 11/7/2025, The carbon and smoke detectors were tested and found functional. Children\342\200\231s records were reviewed and found complete. The FCCH has a current children\342\200\231s roster. Fire and disaster drills are conducted every month; last drill was conducted on 11/8/2025. LPA also reviewed the facility file. Licensee has current Mandated Reporter training which is valid until 7/26/2027 and Pediatric CPR/First Aid (EMSA approved) training was completed on 7/2/2026. License was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in the Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee, the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS). IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Licensee applicant submitted an application for capacity increase on 11/7/2025. Santa Barbara County fire department granted the fire clearance on 11/14/2025 for capacity of 14 daycare children. Control of property was reviewed. During today\342\200\231s inspection no deficiency was cited. Home meets the Title 22 Division 12 for a large Family Child Care home License effective today, 12/1/2025. During the exit interview, the Licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. A notice of site visit was given to Licensee and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Appeal Rights were given and explained. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Maria Arias.
