What the inspector wrote

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 9:10 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Manel Estoesta conducted an unannounced Required One (1) Year Visit. LPA met with the Interim Child Development Center (CDC) Coordinator Alicia Padilla and Head Teacher Juana Castillo and explained the purpose of the visit. Present on this visit were 7 staff and 12 Preschool Children. The Preschool Program is operated by the Milpitas Unified School District and all the Staff Criminal Background checks are manage by the Department of Education. The Preschool Program opens at 8:15 am to 11:15 am, Monday to Friday in Room E (Part Day). LPA toured the facility to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection with the Head Teacher Juana Castillo. Facility's License, Notification of Parents\342\200\231 Right Poster, Child Car Seat Law, Menus and Personal Rights Poster were observed to be posted. The classroom, restrooms, pantry, kitchen, storage room, and office area were inspected. The facility does not possess nor store any weapons on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to children were stored inaccessible to children. Cabinets, drawers, and rooms used for storage were locked. Furniture and equipment such tables and chairs were age appropriate and were in good condition. Restrooms for children's use were observed to be in safe, sanitary, and functioning condition. Floors were clean and free from tripping hazard. Outdoor activity space is fenced and was inspected. The play equipment was maintained in a safe condition and free of hazards. There were no bodies of water observed. Areas around and under high climbing equipment and slides were cushioned with material that absorbs falls. There were shaded rest areas for children. Drinking water are arranged to be readily available to children during indoor and outdoor activities. See 809 C. Continuation. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA reviewed Children Sign in and Out Sheets and Staff Attendance Sheet for today. A sampling of Children's files was taken for review. The records reviewed include Admission Agreement and Identification and Emergency Information. Morning Snack is being provided by the School. LPA observed Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors, fire pull stations, fire extinguishers and sprinkler system. Fire and Disaster Drills conducted on 10/27/2022. Facility does not provide transportation for children. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided. LPA discussed the Lead Testing and Prevention Information to Interim Coordinator Alicia Padilla. LPA obtained copies of Staff Sign in List and Child Care Facility Roster. There are no deficiencies cited on this visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Interim Coordinator, Alicia Padilla.
