What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Marilou Monico and Jessica Bongardt made a Case Management Inspection in response to an unusual incident that was self-reported by the facility to Licensing on August 8, 2023. LPAs met with Director, Tim Harper, and explained the nature of today's visit. LPAs toured the facility, reviewed a file, and interviewed staff. Based on interviews, it was determined that on August 7, 2023, a child (C-1) who is enrolled in the toddler option program was left unattended in the preschool playground when his group transitioned from the playground (toddler yard) to the classroom (Room 14). A staff member who was in the preschool yard brought the child to Room 14. Room 14 is located adjacent to the preschool playground. As a result of this inspection, deficiency was cited on the following page: Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Tim Harper. A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS GIVEN AND MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.

(1) No child(ren) shall be left without the supervision of a teacher at any time, except as specified in Sections 101216.2(e)(1) and 101230(c)(1). Supervision shall include visual observation. This requirement was not met as evidenced by: A child (C-1) was left unattended in the preschool playground when his group transitioned from the toddler yard to Room 14. The child was brought to the classroom by a staff member. This poses an immediate risk to the health, safety, and personal rights of children in care.
