What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Yip conducted an unannounced Case Management- Licensee Initiated inspection. LPA met with Director Maarit McCrossen and explained the reason for the inspection. The purpose of this inspection is the center requested a change of capacity for 60 infants and adding Toddler B room. A fire clearance was granted on 06/28/2023. Measurements were conducted during today's inspection. The measurements are as followed: Infant A 15.333 x 23.167 = 355.219 minus encumbered space 54.421 = 300.798 Infant B 21.500 x 13.167 = 283.090 minus encumbered space 39.022 = 244.064 Toddler A 33.667 x 21.667 = 729.462 minus encumbered space 73.549 = 655.913 Due to Toddler B room not being set up yet, LPA was unable to measure the room. Director stated that the room should be set up by 08/21/2023. LPA advised Director that another inspection will need to be conducted to complete measurements. ----------------CONTINUES ON 809 DATED 08/16/2023 PAGE 2------------------- --------------CONTINUATION OF 809 DATED 08/16/2023 PAGE 1--------------- The outdoor measurements are as followed: (119.417 x 38.000 = 4, 537.846) + (23.333 x 16.667 = 388.891) = 4,926.737 minus encumbered space 48.075 = 4,878.661 TOTAL OUTDOOR SPACE : 4,878.661 divided by 75 = 65 children The outdoor space is fenced. Shaded rest area is provided through trees and building overhang. Area around play structure has resilient material. There were no bodies of water observed during today's inspection. The center provides meals and snacks. Meals, snacks, and bottles are also prepared and brought from home. There is a kitchen to prepare and store food. There is fridge in the Infant A and Infant B room to store food and bottles. There is also an area to prepare food and bottles in the room. Drinking water is provided through individual water bottles and Brita filters. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. ---------------CONTINUES ON 809 DATED 08/16/2023 PAGE 3------------------- -------------CONTINUATION OF 809 DATED 08/16/2023 PAGE 2------------- This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. There is currently no children who required IMS. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Director was informed that another inspection will be conducted at a further date to complete measurements. No deficiencies was issued as a result of this inspection. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director Maarit McCrossen. A notice of site visit has been issued and must remain posted for 30 days.
