What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Yip conducted an unannounced Case Management- Legal/Non-compliance inspection. LPA met with Director Maarit McCrossen and explained the reason for the inspection. The purpose of this inspection is the center had come into the San Jose Regional office for an informal meeting due to supervision and personal rights. During today's inspection, LPA conducted observation. Director stated that she and the Assistant Director will observe the classes during transitions. Staff also use a CSR during transitions to ensure that children are supervised at all time; along with having staff stop at each gate. Director informed LPA that a wall be installed at the back of TK Room. Director stated that she will submit an updated LIC 200A and LIC 999 upon completion of installation. Director understands that an updated fire clearance and that measurements will need to be conducted. On 08/16/2023, LPA observed that there were open trash cans that had food waste inside of it. Director stated that the trash can are taken the kitchen and then thrown out. LPA discussed with the Director that the trash cans for waste need to have a tight fitted lid. Director stated that they will start to use the trash cans in the classroom, which have a tight fitted lid for any waste. ------------continues on 809 dated 08/24/2023 page 2------------------------ Director requested to add the former school-age yard for the preschool yard. An updated LIC 999 was received on 08/16/2023. An updated LIC 200A will be mailed to the San Jose Regional office. Measurements were conducted during today's inspection. The measurement are as followed: (66.917 x 43.333 = 2,899.717) minus encumbered space 20.654 = 2,879.060 Other preschool yard was measured on 01/31/2023. The measurements are as followed: 80.083 x 67.417 = 5398.955 minus encumbered 2.417 x 4.167 = 10.071 + 5.167 x 2.833 = 14.638 + 2(1.167 x 1) = 3.34 = 28.049 = 5398.955 - 28.049 = 5370.906 Total Outdoor Space: 8,249.966 divided by 75 = 109 children As a result of this inspection, there were no deficiencies issued. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director Maarit McCrossen. A notice of site visit has been issued and must remain posted for 30 days.
