What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Samantha Yip and Doni Fici conducted an unannounced Case Management- Other inspection. LPA met with Director Maarit McCrossen and explained the reason for the inspection. The purpose of this inspection is facility added a partition in the TK room and changing the names of the room. Facility also came into the San Jose Regional office for an informal meeting regarding supervision and personal rights. A fire clearance was granted on 12/13/2023. Measurements for the TK room were conducted during today's inspection. The measurements are as followed: (16.167 x 38.833 = 627.813) + (12.167 x 10.500 = 127.753) = 755.566 minus encumbered space (2.000 x 4.000 = 8) = 747.566 Measurements for the Prek-K, Preschool Room, and Discovery Preschool Room were conducted on 01/31/2023. The measurements are as followed: Preschool : 34.417 x 44.167 = 1520.095 minus encumbered space 4 x 1.750 = 7 + 7.083 x 12.833 = 90.896 + 6.667 x 13.333 = 88.891 + 2(1.833 x 4.167) = 15.276 = 202.063 = 1520.095 - 202.063 = 1318.032 Discovery Preschool B: 29.583 x 22.083 = 653.281 minus encumbered space 2 x 2= 4 + 1.833 + 4.167 = 7.638 + 4 x 1.750 = 7 + 5 x 2= 10 = 28.638 = 653.281 - 28.638 = 624.643 Discovery Preschool A: 22 x 29.750 = 654.5 minus encumbered spaced 4 x 1.750 = 7 + 1.833 x 4.167 = 7.638 + 2 x 4.917 = 9.834 + 2.583 x 1.833= 4.734 = 29.206 = 625.294 Total Indoor Square Footage : 747.566 + 1318.032 + 624.643 + 625.294 = 3,315.535 divided by 35 = 94 children --------------continues on 809 dated 12/16/2023 page 2-------------------------- -------------------continuation of 809 dated 12/15/2023 page 1--------------------- The outdoor measurements were conducted on 01/31/2023 and 08/24/2023. The measurements are as followed: Preschool Yard B: (66.917 x 43.333 = 2,899.717) minus encumbered space 20.654 = 2,879.060 Preschool Yard A: 80.083 x 67.417 = 5398.955 minus encumbered 2.417 x 4.167 = 10.071 + 5.167 x 2.833 = 14.638 + 2(1.167 x 1) = 3.34 = 28.049 = 5398.955 - 28.049 = 5370.906 Total Outdoor Space: 8,249.966 divided by 75 = 109 children There are 69 chairs, 18 tables, 81 cubbies, 42 hooks, 7 sinks, 7 toilets, and 78 cots. There are toys and equipment for children. LPA observed that there was a cabinet under the changing table sink which was not locked and had cleaning supplies. There was also a cabinet in the Discovery Preschool B that had spray bottles with cleaning supplies. The cabinet has a latch, but was not latching. Director locked cabinet under the changing table and moved the cleaning supplies in the Discovery Preschool B room to a lock cabinet. LPA discussed with Director that all cleaning supplies and disinfectants need to be inaccessible to children. LPAs obtained a updated LIC 999 to reflect the change of room names. As a result of this inspection, a Type B citation was issued. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director Maarit McCrossen. A notice of site visit has been issued and must remain posted for 30 days.
