What the inspector wrote

On Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 9:30 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Manel Estoesta conducted an unannounced Required One (1) Year visit. LPA met with the DIRECTOR FARAHNAZ TEHRANY and explained the nature of the site visit. Present on this visit were 11 staff and 72 preschool children. Facility also has an active Infant License number 434400343 in the same facility address. Facility operates from Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. LPA toured the facility to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection with the Director. The facility is within ratio and capacity compliance today. This program operates in the Room three (3) to sevem (7) classrooms. All classrooms were inspected for age appropriate furnishings, equipment, and adequate storage for children’s belongings. LPA observed the cleanliness of floors and surfaces, the presence of working carbon monoxide detector, smoke detectors/fire alarms and fully charged fire extinguishers required size that is accessible throughout the facility. Facility were inspected by Milpitas Fire Department Permit dated 06/28/2021. The bathrooms have age appropriate faucets and toilets in working condition. The outdoor play area is fully fenced. There is padding under/around the climbing equipment. The play structures appear to be fully intact with no visual defects or concerns. There are no pools, hot tubs or other accessible bodies of water. Per director, there are no firearms present on the premises. Cleaning supplies/toxins are stored inaccessible to children during the inspection and all required postings are present. The facility provides breakfast, lunch and snacks. Menu is also posted. LPA reviewed storage of food and reminded director that all food must be in original packaging or labeled with expiration date. Per director, there are no firearms present on the premises. SEE 809 C. Continuation.... A copy of the facility personnel and children’s roster, Sign In and Out documentation was obtained. LPA reviewed the file of 5 children enrolled in the program and 5 staff members files, who are fingerprint cleared and associated, completion of Mandated Reporter training as well as proof of immunization's. All staff have current CPR/First Aid certificates, and proof of education and/or experience was also present. The center also conducts and documents fire and earthquake drills once every month and the logs show that drills were last conducted September 2021. The Director was reminded that baby bouncers, exersaucers, johnny jumpers and similar items are not allowed in licensed day care. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA also informed licensee [facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. After a complete inspection of the facility, there are no deficiencies cited today. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative, DIRECTOR FARAHNAZ TEHRANY.
