What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Yip conducted an unannounced Required- 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Site Director Eva Suarez and explained the reason for the inspection. The purpose of this inspection is the center is also going back on active status and had renovated the center. The center was temporarily closed since 10/2022 due to the renovation. An updated fire clearance was granted 09/26/2023. There is no changes to the capacity. There were no children present during today's inspection. Measurements were conducted during today's inspection. The indoor measurements are as followed: Classroom 1 : (34.250 x 28.083 = 961.842) minus encumbered space 46.287 = 915.555 Classroom 2 : (29.667 x 28.333 = 840.555) minus encumbered space 109.758 = 730.797 Total Indoor Space: 1, 646.352 divided by 35 = 47 children The outdoor measurements are as followed: Playground 1 : (19.333 x 92.250 = 1, 1783.469) + (40.000 x 7.500 = 300) = 2,083.469 minus encumbered space 82.761 = 2,000.708 Playground 2 : (87.417 x 84.500 = 7,386.736) minus encumbered space 95.263 = 7,291.473 Total Outdoor Space: 9,292.181 divided by 75 = 123 children ------------------continues on 809 dated 09/27/2023 page 2----------------------- ----------------continuation of 809 dated 09/27/2023 page 1---------------------- There are nine (9) tables, 60 chairs, 40 cubbies, 80 hooks, 44 mats, 7 sinks, and 3 toilets. There are toys and equipment for children. Only Classroom 1 is set up. Site Director stated that she will send a picture of Classroom 2 once it is set up. There is fully charged fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector. Director stated that they will also be installing a plug in or battery operated carbon monoxide detector. Isolation area for children in Classroom 1 will be by the cubbies and by the closet door in Classroom 2. Sick children will use the staff restroom across from the kitchen. The outdoor area is fenced. Area around climbing equipment and slides have resilient material. Shaded rest area is provided through canopy and trees. There were no bodies of water observed during today's inspection. All meals and snacks are prepared off site. There is a kitchen to store food. Kitchen has hot and cold running water. Drinking water inside is provided through water coolers and cups. Drinking water outside will be provided through water fountain and gallon water and cups. Menu was observed to be posted. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPA referred facility representative to the Department website for lead: Lead Toxicity Prevention and Water Testing Information . -----------------continues on 809 dated 09/27/2023 page 3------------------------ ------------------continuation of 809 dated 09/27/2023 page 2----------------- The center completed lead testing for their kitchen and will be obtaining lead testing for the water coolers and water fountain. Director stated that they will be using bottle water or gallon water until lead testing has been completed. A statement was submitted during today's inspection that the center will only be using bottle water; along with test results for the kitchen sinks, LIC 9275, and LIC 9276. Due to the center going back on active status, no children's files were reviewed during today's inspection. Four (4) staff files were reviewed during today's inspection. The record reviewed include but not limited to education credit, immunization records, and health screening & TB test. All staff are fingerprinted through Santa Clara County of Education; therefore, all fingerprints are monitored through Santa Clara County of Education. LPA obtained a copy of Site Director's paperwork during today's inspection. Facility will submit the following: - picture of Classroom 2 upon it being set-up - proof of scheduled lead testing for drinking water - lead test result, LIC 999, LIC 9275, and LIC 9276 for lead testing for drinking water. As a result of this inspection, no deficiencies were issued. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Site Director Eva Suarez. A notice of site has been issued and must remain posted for 30 days.
