What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Yip conducted an unannounced Required- 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Director Emilia "Emily" Gonzalez Mendoza. Principal Christine Shales arrived shortly after. Present during today's inspection were 17 children and at least seven staff. Facility was within ratio during today's inspection. There are areas to post required postings. There is working phone at the center. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7AM to 6:00PM during the school year and 8AM-5:30PM in the summer. LPA toured the inside and outside of the center with Principal and Director. All disinfectant, cleaning supplies, and other items that could pose a risk to children were inaccessible to children. There are toys and equipment for children, which is age appropriate. LPA observed that the hinge for the cabinet in Room 23, which was not attached to the cabinet. LPA also observed that the hinge in Room 29 were loose. There were no children in the room. Principal Shales stated that she will have their facilities come a fix the hinge. There is a fully charged fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector. The last first/disaster drill was conducted on 05/15/2023. Principal stated that there are no weapons, such as firearm, stored on the premise. The outdoor activity space is fenced. Area around play structure have resilient material. Principal Shales stated that their maintenance racks all the tan bark on Saturday to even out the tan bark. Shaded rest area is provided through trees and building overhang. There were no bodies of water observed during today's inspection. ----------------continuation of 809 dated 06/07/2023 page 2--------------------- -------------------continuation of 809 dated 06/07/2023 page 1------------------- The center only provides afternoon snack during the school year. Morning snack and lunch is prepared and brought from home. Parent also have the options to purchase hot lunches during the school year. There is kitchen to store snacks. The center does not offer any meals and snacks during summer session. Drinking water is provided through individual water bottles and water refill stations. LPA obtained a copy of the LIC 9275, LIC 9276, and LIC 999 during today's inspection. Principal Shales stated that she currently does not have any children who require Incidental Medical Services (IMS). For IMS information, see PIN 22-02-CCP. A copy of the facility roster was obtained during today's inspection. Five (5) children's files were reviewed during today's inspection. The records reviewed include but not limited to admission agreement and immunization records. LPA discussed with Principal Shales what needs to be included in the enrollment agreement. 12 staff files were reviewed during today's inspection. The records reviewed include but not limited to education credit, Mandated Reporter training, and immunization records. All staff present have a valid CPR/1st Aid. Director's CPR/1st Aid expires on 08/18/2024. LPA discussed to ensure that all forms and immunization records for staff are on file, such as LIC 9108. S-1 did not have LIC 9108 and proof of influenza on file. ---------------continues on 809 dated 06/07/2023 page 3---------------------- --------------continuation of 809 dated 06/07/2023 page 2------------------------ All staff present have cleared fingerprints. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Facility will submit the following: - transcript of admin/supervision course upon completion and proof of enrollment - updated exception letter As a result of this inspection, no deficiencies were issued. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Principal Shales and Director Emily Mendoza. A notice of site visit has been issued and must remain posted for 30 days.
