What the inspector wrote

On 01/26/2026 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jaime Gonzales was greeted and granted access to the facility by Site Director, Marija Palihnic Fisher. LPA stated the reason for todays visit was to conduct a case management investigation. LPA took a census of the classrooms in rooms A, B, C preschool classrooms and Early Montessori toddler classroom. LPA observed classroom A had 17 preschoolers and two staff, classroom B had 19 preschoolers and two staff and classroom C had 11 preschoolers and one staff. Early montessori (toddler) classroom had 11 toddlers and three staff. During the tour of the facility LPA observed one substitute teacher that was in the Early Montessori program and after interview with Site Director, Marija Palihnic Fisher it was revealed that one substitute was not associated in the Guardian background check system utilized by the Department of Social Services. This is a repeat violation that was cited on 01/09/2026. During the investigation Site Director, Marija Palihnic Fisher collected the one substitute's Drivers License and found they had an eligible clearance and associated them to the facility in the Guardian Background Check System on 01/26/2026. LPA and Site Director discussed the criminal background check process and Site Director understands that she will need confirm eligible clearance and associate any substitute teachers working directly with children prior to their presence in the licensed child care facility. The following type A Deficiency was cited on the attached pages (809-D). Site Director, Marija Palihnic was informed that failure to correct the deficiency by the specified Plan of Correction (POC) Due Date may result in assessment of civil penalties in the amount of $100 per day per violation until the correction is made. Continued on Page 2... LPA, Jaime Gonzales informed Site Director, Marija Palihnic Fisher that this report dated 01/26/2026 documents one Type A citation which shall be posted for 30 consecutive days as there is immediate risk to the health, safety, or personal rights of children in care. Also, LPA Jaime Gonzales informed the Site Director, Marija Palihnic Fisher to provide a copy of this licensing report dated that 01/26/2026 documents any Type A citation to parents/guardians of all children currently enrolled by the next business day or the next day the children are in care, and to any newly enrolled parents/guardians for 12 months from the date of this report. A signed Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Report (LIC 9224), or other written statement, must be placed in the child's file for verification. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Site Director, Marija Palihnic Fisher. Appeal Rights Provided. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
