What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Marilou Monico, conducted a Case Management Inspection in response to Licensee's request to add classrooms to their existing license. LPA met with Site Director, Wendy Ramirez, and explained to her the nature of the inspection. LPA toured the facility both indoor and outdoor areas as well as measured the space available for the children. The facility has active waivers to share bathrooms and playground with the elementary school. The facility also requested to change the name of the facility from Los Gatos Christian School & Preschool to Venture Christian Academy Preschool. The following measurements were taken by LPA Monico during today's inspection: Room 101: 35.67 x 26.50 = 945.25 minus 176.72 (encumbered space) = 768.53 Room 102: 35.67 x 26.50 = 945.25 minus 147.66 (encumbered space) = 797.59 Room 221: 31.83 x 26.58 = 846.04 minus 129.79 (encumbered space) = 716.25 Room 222: 35.58 x 26.42 = 940.02 minus 129.67 (encumbered space) = 810.35 Room 227: 53.67 x 26.42 = 1,417.96 minus 227.26 (encumbered space) = 1,190.70 Room 228: 51.50 x 26.75 = 1,377.62 minus 266.02 (encumbered space) = 1,111.60 TOTAL PRESCHOOL INDOOR SPACE: 5,395.02 divided by 35 sq. ft. = 154 children There are 15 sinks (225), 12 toilets (180) and 3 urinals (45) available for the children. There are three staff bathrooms located on the first floor and one staff bathroom on the second floor. The staff bathroom located on the second floor will be utilized by sick children if needed. The sick children will be isolated in the Director's office located on the second floor and isolation equipment will be provided. Cleaning supplies are stored in the upper cabinet in each room inaccessible to children. There are 133 cubbies, 145 chairs, 24 tables, 67 cots, and 8 mats for the daycare children. There is an active waiver to share the bathrooms located on the second floor with the elementary school. Drinking water is available for the children indoor via water dispenser and individual water bottles. Continuation on next page: Outdoor measurements were taken by LPA Michele Wong on 08/22/06: ELEMENTARY PLAYGROUND 86.083 x 61.415 = 5286.787 65.000 x 61.747 = 4013.555 34.581 x 34.332 = 1187.234 Playground total = 10487.576 SHADED REST AREA 67.913 x 55.083 = 3740.851 TOTAL OUTDOOR SPACE: 14228.427 sq. ft. divided by 75 = 189 children. The preschool children is utilizing the same playground and shaded rest area as the Elementary School children at different scheduled times. An approved waiver is on file. The playground and rest area have appropriate fence. LPA observed rubber foam as resilient material under and around the climbing structures. Drinking water is provided by a drinking fountain and individual water bottles. LPA observed no bodies of water. Fire clearance was granted on June 13, 2024. Site Director understands that the waivers and playground schedule must be available for review. The following items must be submitted to Licensing prior to approval of the two additional classrooms: 1) Updated Employee Handbook and Parent Handbook. There were no deficiencies cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Site Director, Wendy Ramirez. A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS ISSUED AND MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
