On 12/06/2021 at 12:30PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melanie Otsuji conducted an unannounced Required 1 year and Capacity Increase Inspection . LPA was met by Directors, Melissa Graney and Edaena Cano Avila. Also present during today's visit were 10 staff members (including Directors) and 32 preschool aged children. The center has submitted an application for a CAPACITY INCREASE . Facility is currently requesting to increase from 47 preschoolers to 60 preschoolers. A health and safety inspection was conducted inside and outside. Facility days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30AM - 4:00PM. The facility measurement was completed on a previous visit and measurements are follows: INDOORS: 2112.52 SQUARE FEET = 60 CHILDREN OUTDOORS: 4648.54 SQUARE FEET = 62 CHILDREN The center has obtained an approved fire clearance from Santa Clara County Fire Department for 60 children. Jardin De Mariposa will have six approved classrooms (Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4 (art lab), 11 and 14). Facility will also have 1 play yard available for preschoolers. The preschool rooms are equipped with varied age appropriate materials and equipment. There are 3 toilets, 2 urinals and 10 sinks available for children use. The staff have a separate bathroom in which will also serve as an isolation bathroom. Individual Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA reviewed a total of 10 children's files and 10 staff files. All licensing required documents are posted. Zero Tolerance policies were explained. The Department has implemented a new software system called Guardian, and it is encouraged to set up an account. This will enable you to perform associations/disassociations, initiate background checks, check clearances, and print and download rosters without having to contact an analyst. The center was found to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair. There were no deficiencies cited during this visit. A license for 60 preschool aged children operating out of Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 11, and 14 will be issued today, effective 12/6/2021. An exit interview was conducted.
