What the inspector wrote

On 11/07/25 at 1:55PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jaime Gonzales was greeted by licensee, Bruna Akbari. LPA stated the reason for today\342\200\231s visit was to conduct an unannounced annual random inspection and was granted access to the home by the licensee, Bruna Akbari. Upon arrival there were two infants and 7 preschoolers, two assistants, the licensee, licensees husband, licensees friend and licensees brother who was visiting. Licensee stated that her brother has been visiting for the last two to three weeks and is not left alone with the day care children. Licensees husband left the home during the inspection. Two infants and four preschoolers left the home during the inspection. The home was toured to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection. LPA observed all required postings in the office use for day care. Days and hours of operation are from Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. The ages of the children to be served are 0-5 years old. The home is neat and clean with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The off-limit areas includes: Garage, two bedrooms, master bathroom, kitchen, living room dining room, right side of the back yard where the deck is located. Licensee states that the living room is off limits but sometimes parents will pick up at the front door and assistants or licensee will bring the children to the parents. Licensee states that children are fully supervised by the licensee or assistants while using the bathroom. Off-limit areas are inaccessible by closed and/or locked doors and with visual supervision. LPA observed a screened fireplace located in an off limit area. There are ample age-appropriate toys that appear to be safe and in good condition. Licensee stated that the isolation for sick children is in the office or bedroom that is used for the day care and the licensee will sit with the children until parents pick up. LPA observed that poisons, cleaning products and sharps are stored in the off-limit kitchen area. LPA reminded Licensee that smoking, sleep sacks, baby walkers, and similar items are not allowed in Family Child Care Homes. Licensee does not carry day care insurance. Continued on page 2... The home has a fully charged (2A10BC) fire extinguisher. LPA observed a operable smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector. Licensee confirmed she has a working telephone. The Licensee CPR and First Aid certificate is current and expires (08/2027). Licensee and Assistants all have vaild Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Providers certifications. Licensee was reminded of Mandated Reporter Training (AB1207) and CPR/First aid certifications needs to be renewed every two years. A copy of the licensee\342\200\231s immunization is on file. Per Licensee, there are no firearms in the home. The Licensee conducts and documents fire and disaster drills at least every six months and was conducted on 06/09/2025. Personnel records are available for review. LPA observed that both assistants are missing proof of immunization to measles and pertussis. LPA reviewed two childrens files and C1 and C2 were missing the immunization records for review. LPA observed one play yard that had an additional mattress on top of the mattress that was specifically made for the play yard that meet the safety standards. Licensee removed mattress at the time of inspection. Licensee understands that the mattress to be used is the one that is original to the play yard. LPA observed one child sleeping with a blanket on top of their body. Licensee removed blankets from the play yard and will let the parents know that blankets are not allowed in the play yard while infants are sleeping. LPA and licensee reviewed the infant sleep regulation together during todays inspection and a copy was left at the facility. Forms of discipline to be used by Licensee are redirecting and talking with the child . Licensee understands that children's personal rights should not be violated, including but not limited to, no corporal punishment, interference with eating, sleeping, intimidation, or other actions of a punitive nature. Children are treated with dignity, and receive safe, healthful, and comfortable accommodations. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Continued on page 3... The home has a fully charged (2A10BC) fire extinguisher. Licensee provides breakfast, lunch, midmorning and afternoon snack to the children. Licensee provides only water to the children unless parents bring in milk for the children. LPA observed a operable smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector. Licensee confirmed she has a working telephone. The Licensee CPR and First Aid certificate is current and expires (08/2027). Licensee and Assistants all have valid Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Providers certifications. During the exit interview, licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Megan's Law was checked on 11/04/25. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
