What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPA)Harsimran Kaur conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with Director/Applicant, Alka Sharma and explained the reason for the inspection. The purpose of this inspection is Applicant is applying for a preschool license with the toddler option. Applicant is applying for a capacity of 37 preschool children and 35 for the toddler option. Entrance to the facility is from front and back door. There are areas to post required postings, such as notification of parent's rights, personal rights, daily activity schedule, sketch, car seat, and menu. There hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30AM to 6PM. There is working phone at the site, which is (408) 455-5294. The following are indoor/outdoor measurements and information: Preschool Program The Indoor total measurements contain a total of {1327.06} square feet, which will accommodate Applicant\342\200\231s request for 37 preschoolers. Outdoor total measurements contain a total of {2828.93} square feet, which will not accommodate Applicant\342\200\231s request for 72 children. Toddler Program The Indoor total measurements contain a total of {1242.20} square feet, which will accommodate Applicant\342\200\231s request for 35 toddlers . There are 40 chairs, 7 tables, 40 cubbies, 40 cots, 4 toilets, and 2 sinks and 1 portable sink for the preschool program. Preschool program will run upper level. There are toys and equipment for children, which are age-appropriate. LPA reminded that all disinfectant, cleaning supplies, or other items that could pose a risk to children need to be inaccessible. LPA also discussed that minimum temperature in the room, which is 68 degrees Fahrenheit. There is fully charged fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector. There is a first aid kit, which has all the required items. For the toddler option, there are 35 chairs, 6 tables, 36 cubbies, 24 cots, 4 toilets, 6 high chairs, 2 sinks and 1 adult bathroom with toilet and sink. There are toys and equipment for children. Toddler program will run in 2 classrooms downstairs. There is a changing table, which is within arms reach of a sink. Changing table has a padding at least one inch and a raised side that is at least 3 inches. Isolation area is in the staff office. The outdoor space is fenced. There are toys and equipment for children. Shaded rest area is provided through canopy. LPA discussed with Program Directors that children cannot commingle when outside including when going to the yard and back inside. All meals and snacks are provided by parents. There is kitchen area in facility which has refrigerator and microwave. Children will bring their own water bottle. Facility will also have water available for children. LPA discussed that they have 180 days after licensure to receive lead testing for drinking water. LPA discussed with trash can for waste need to have a tight fitted lid. There is one adult bathroom in preschool class for staff. This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. For IMS information, see PIN 22-02-CCP . A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Site Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA informed Site Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California LPA reviewed with Site Director the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platform. To receive important licensed-related information to licensed facilities, visit the CCLD Important Information website at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/community-care-licensing/subscribe and select the Child Care option to receive communication. The following corrections needs to be corrected. 1) Waiver request for sharing outdoor space from applicant. 2) Extra cots. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Alka Sharma, Director. Copy of the report was provided. Final license determination will be made upon review by Licensing Program Manager.
