What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Marilou Monico met with Licensee Representative, Sara Spiegel, and conducted a Case Management Inspection. Licensee requested to remove the Play Yard as an outdoor space for the preschool children and add the Discovery Garden Yard. LPA toured the facility both indoor and outdoor. LPA observed one teacher with one child in Room 30/31, three staff supervising 16 napping children in the Nap Room. LPA observed two teacher's aides supervising 19 children in Room 1. LPA reviewed records. OUTDOOR INFORMATION: Outdoor measurements taken by LPA Monico on 09/25/25: Discovery Garden Yard : 49.00 x 35.67 = 1,747.83 29.00 x 20.83 = 604.07 Discovery Garden Yard Total = 2,351.9 (1,747.83 + 604.07) Outdoor measurements taken by LPA Kaur on 12/19/23: Preschool Yard (outdoor space adjacent to Room 30/31) = 6114.99 TOTAL OUTDOOR SPACE = 8,466.89 (2,351.9 + 6114.99) divided by 75 = 112 children During today's inspection, LPA observed that the Discovery Garden Yard has protruding sprinklers located in the garden bed areas. Licensee Representative states that the sprinklers will be lowered or additional tanbarks will be placed on the garden beds. Continuation on next page: Upon receipt of the following item, the Discovery Garden Yard will be approved as additional outdoor space for the preschool children: 1) Photos showing that the sprinklers are lowered or additional tanbarks are placed on the garden beds. Assembly Bill (AB) 633 was provided and discussed with Licensee Representative. LPA informed the Licensee Representative, Sara Spiegel, that this report dated October 30, 2025 documents one Type A citation which shall be posted for 30 consecutive days as there is an immediate risk to the health, safety, or personal rights of children in care. Also, LPA Monico informed the Licensee Representative to provide a copy of this licensing report dated October 30, 2025 that documents any Type A citation to parents/guardians of all children currently enrolled no later than the next business day or the next day the children are in care, and to any newly enrolled parents/guardians for 12 months from the date of this report. A signed Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Report (LIC 9224),or other written statement, must be placed in the child's file for verification. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Licensee Representative, Sara Spiegel. Copy of appeal rights was provided. A Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
