What Happened

This unannounced case management visit was triggered by unusual incident reports and found the home out of ratio when four children were being handled as visitors while away at a nearby park. Staff records and child files were reviewed, and the licensee was told the children needed to be picked up for the home to be back in ratio.

Observations

  • The facility was out of ratio when four children were taken by three women to a nearby park and were not counted as being properly in care at the home.
  • All 14 children were toddlers, and the analyst determined the home was operating with an improper census for the ratio situation described.
