Inspector’s narrative
What the inspector wrote
Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Cortney Nelson, met with Site Coordinator, Claudia 'Gaby' Solano and Director, Lisa Sandoval
, for an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection. LPA was granted access to the facility by Gaby
and toured both indoors and outdoors during the inspection. Upon arrival, there were eighteen (18) preschool-age
children
and
four staff
present, which is compliant with the facility license capacity and
Title 5
ratio re
quirements. There were six (6) children in the "toddlers classroom" (building #201- B, ages 2-3 yrs old
) and twelve (12) in the preschool classroom (building #203). LPA observed all required postings near the entrance to the facility and the hours of operation are
Monday \342\200\223 Friday, 6:00AM-6:00PM
.
LPA reviewed sign-in/out sheets, facility roster (LIC9040), and fire/disaster drill log during today\342\200\231s inspection. The facility started offering services on 5/8/2024 and a fire drill is scheduled to occur on 5/31/2024. Sign-in/out was observed to be completed with full legal signature and time of day.
LPA observed in each building a fully charg
ed
3A40BC
fire extinguisher (last serviced: 3/2024) and functioning carbon m
onoxide detector.
Both buildings are equipped with a built in fire detection system.
Gaby states that she does not currently have any children in care who require Incidental Medical Services
and does not administer medication at this time
. T
here are no weapons or firearms on the premises.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see
PIN 22-02-CCP
. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice) or (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA are available at:

Indoor areas of the facility were inspected by the LPA today and observed to be clean, orderly, and safe for the day care children. The area used by preschool-age children in building #201 is physically separate from the infant component. During today's inspection, LPA observed children were engaged in playing with play-doh and quiet reading before nap. There are sufficient age-appropriate materials, toys, and play equipment. The floors are clean and free of tripping hazards. Drinking water is readily available for children v
ia
water dispensers and disposable cups.
Staf
f and children\342\200\231s bathrooms are clean, sanitary, and operable. LPA observed there is a diaper changing table that can be utilized by children in building #201 and a diaper changing pad in building #203. There is a separate staff bathroom, not utilized by the children, which an isolated child can use if necessary. There is
a working telephone in the facility.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018,
requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for
drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. The facility had water lead testing completed by Central Coast Lead Inspection Services on 6/23/2023 and no faucets had an Action Level Exceedance.
The outdoor area of the facility was inspected and observed to be fenced in. Gaby states that they are planning to renovate the playground next year to have two separate areas for the "toddler" (2-3 yrs old) and the preschoolers. LPA advised submitting construction plans to the Department prior to commencement. There is currently a playground, sandbox, musical structures, riding bikes, and other play equipment for children to utilize. LPA observed pl
ay equipment was in good condition, age-appropriate, and has sufficient resilient materials
(tanbark)
to absorb falls. No outdoor bodies of water were observed during today\342\200\231s inspection. Shaded rest area is provided by
canopy and building overhang.
The facility offers a full
day program and provides breakfast, lunch, and PM snack
to children through the Pajaro Valley Unified School District Food Program. The menu is in writing and posted at least one week in advance, accessible to authorized representatives. The kitchen and storage area is clean and free of litter and rubbish. Equipment necessary for the storage, preparation and service of food is well maintained, clean, and sanitized after each use.
Five (5) children's files and five (5)
staff files
were reviewed and all required documents were present. All staff members have proof of current child development permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. All staff have current CPR/First-Aid and Gaby's expires on
11/28/2025.
All st

. LPA reminded
that the Mandated Reporter Training must be renewed by all staff every 2 years per AB1207 for Child Care Providers.
