What the inspector wrote
On 10/21/2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jaime Gonzales conducted an unannounced inspection. LPA was greeted by Site Director Travis Skelton. LPA stated the reason for the visit.
Upon arrival, LPA observed Site Director, three qualified teachers and 19 school age children. During the inspection Paulina Peacock, Human Resource Generalist arrived then left the facility and Drew Saldivar School Age Program Director took over for the Site Director at 2:30PM.
LPA conducted a tour of the indoors and outdoors of the facility and the after school program is located on the Main Street Elementary School campus, in the two CKC portables. Site Director Drew Saldivar stated that the second room is not being used at this time due to low enrollment in the program. LPA observed the required postings. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 12pm - 6pm during school hours. The annual licensing fees are current. During school holidays and school breaks, the center is open from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The facility is licensed to serve children ages kindergarten to 12 years old.
Fire/disaster drill was conducted on September 16, 2025. LPA obtained a copy of children's roster. Cleaning products, disinfectants, sharp objects were stored in inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment were observed to be age appropriate and in good condition. The facility is clean and orderly. The bathrooms for children are located outdoors near the play structure and are clean, sanitary, and operable.
The center provides snacks to the children. There is a kitchen in the main portable for food preparation. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave and refrigerator. LPA observed sink with hot and cold running water. Drinking water is available for the children via individual water bottles and water dispenser. There are trash cans with tight fitting covers for the disposable of solid wastes. The facility has the required size fire extinguisher and working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. School Age Program Director, Drew Saldivar indicated that there are no weapons or firearms on the premises.

LPA reviewed five random children's files. Children records includes all of the required paperwork. LPA reviewed four staff files. Staff records reviewed included Employee Rights, Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse, Health Screening Report with TB Clearance, Immunization's (Measles, Pertussis, and Influenza Declination) and required training. LPA reminded School Age Program Director, Drew Saldivar that the Mandated Reporter Training shall be renewed by all staff every two years. At least one staff member present during the inspection has current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certifications.
This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. School Age Program Director, Drew Saldivar was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1CCP).
LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.

School Age Program Director, Drew Saldivar was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
