What the inspector wrote

On July 18, 2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Darnella Barnes conducted an unannounced annual inspection. The purpose was explained to the licensee, who granted access. and received the Entrance Checklist (LIC 126). The facility operates Monday \342\200\223 Friday 6:00am to 6:00pm.. Required postings were visible, and the last fire/disaster drill was on 6/12/25, The licensee was reminded of the six month drill and documentation requirement. Present were the licensee, Assistant, 1 infant, 1 Pre-schooler, and 5 school ages. LPA observed children actively engaged and playing with age-appropriate materials that were readily available. Licensee was provided information and reminded of capacity and ratio rules, supervision requirements, reporting obligations, and that children\342\200\231s rights cannot be waived and understands the procedure for handling sick children. All adults 18 and older associated with the facility, including residents and volunteers, have fingerprint clearances. -----CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGES ----- Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Childcare Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA toured the facility\342\200\231s indoor areas, the off-limit areas include 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, and hall bathroom.The home was clean, well ventilated, and had safe toys, play equipment and materials. A fully charged 2A-10-BC fire extinguisher, last purchased 8/18/2024, is available, along with working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and an operating telephone. There is a screened fireplace in the off-limit living room and it is not used during day care hours. All hazardous items, including poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines were locked and kept out of children\342\200\231s reach. The home was free of defects or dangers that could harm a child. Licensee was reminded that smoking is prohibited. Licensee confirmed there are no guns, firearms, or ammunition on the property. The outdoor area was fully enclosed by a fence at least five feet high. The outdoor off limit includes the front yard center and left side, and back yard everywhere beyond the gate.The yard was equipped with age-appropriate play items, including several bikes, slides, kitchen play, plasma cars, doll houses and balls. All equipment was safe, securely placed on AstroTurf, bark and free of hazards. No bodies of water were observed. Licensee was reminded to notify licensing before making any changes to the house or yard. Licensee CPR/First Aid expires 10/16/27 with mandatory training expiring 6/27/26. Assistant (A1) CPR/First Aid expires 1016/25 and mandatory training expires 6/27/26. LPA reminded the licensee of the two-year renewal requirement. LPA advised the applicant that if liability insurance is not provided or the daycare is not named in the policy, parents must sign the Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance (LIC 282) and file it in each child's record. The licensee transports children and possesses a current driver\342\200\231s license, vehicle registration, and insurance. Licensee understands that children cannot be transported unless car seats and seating are available for all passengers. -----CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGES ----- Safe Sleep Information was provided, and licensee was reminded that an Individual Infant Sleeping Plan (LIC 9227) is a required for each infant up to 12 months old, with nap checks documented until age two. Cribs and play yards must be free of loose items, bumper pads, and hanging objects and mattresses must be firm, properly fitted, and have fitted sheets. Additionally baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers, and similar items are not allowed. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee was reminded Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms. To receive important licensed related information to licensed facilities, inspection the CCLD Important Information website at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/community-care- licensing/subscribe and select the Child Care option to receive email communication. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP . When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During the exit interview, the Licensee confirmed no Registered Sex Offenders reside at the facility. The LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS on 4/23/25. A search of the California Attorney General-Megan\342\200\231s Law website found no registered sex offenders at the facility address. No deficiency issued during today's inspection. Appeals rights provided. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
