Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

During the initial investigation visit on 11/16/2022, the center director provided documentation requested for staff and children enrolled in addition to facility procedures for cleaning and disinfecting. Facility premises were found to be clean, free of odors, and at a comfortable temperature during today’s tour. LPA observed that every classroom was furnished with 2 spray bottles by sink and/or diaper change area that were inaccessible to children in care. One bottle had soap and water and the second bottle had Clorox dilute in water. Center Director Rose Thomas was interviewed and stated that teachers use water and soap to clean most of the day and that Clorox dilute in water is used to disinfect tables and chairs after lunch and at the end of the day when children are outside. During the investigation, LPA conducted interviews of parents and staff. Per interviews conducted parents have not observed a strong smell of disinfectants inside classroom while children are inside in care. Staff stated that the 2 spray bottles used in the classroom for cleaning and disinfection are prepared in the morning by staff opening the center and disinfectant with Clorox and water is used after lunch and at the end of the day while children are playing outside. Although it was alleged that staff doesn’t provide children a safe environment while in care, center was found to be clean, free of odors, and hazards during visit and per parents’ interview. Based on available information and interviews conducted, there was not a preponderance of evidence to prove that facility staff does not provide day care children a safe environment while in care or any other violation of regulations. Therefore, the allegations are unsubstantiated. All licensing reports are public information and must be made available upon request for at least three years. This report was read and reviewed with the assistant center director, Phoenix Rothwell. There were no Title 22 deficiencies cited during today's inspection. Appeal rights were provided. The Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for at least 30 days.
