What the inspector wrote

A Case Management inspection was conducted at the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Y. Yang in response to two Unusual Incident Reports (UIR) received on 03/10/25 and 03/28/25 involving two separate children being bit by other children while at the facility. During today\342\200\231s visit, the LPA met with the center director, Mandy McCarthy to discuss the incidents and obtain additional details. The director reported that on 03/05/25, child C1 was bit by child C2 while the children were lining up and preparing to transition from the playground to the classroom. The director stated that this incident was not observed by any staff member. The director stated that staff members were made aware of the incident after C1 was observed crying and holding their finger. The director stated that a bandage was applied, and the authorized representatives of both children were notified. The director reported that on 03/28/25, child C4 was bit on the shoulder by child C3 while both children were watching a movie in their classroom. The director reported that staff reported not observing any precipitating factors or behaviors that led up to the bite. The director stated that C4 was not in distress or affected by the bite. The director stated that the authorized representatives of both children were notified of the incident. During today's visit, the LPA did not observe any evidence of a lack of supervision in the classrooms. During today's case management visit, the LPA reviewed with the director the facility's child supervision policies. The director stated that in both incidents, medical attention was not necessary, and resources were provided to the families regarding how to address inappropriate biting. The director stated that all staff have been made aware of these incidents and are instructed to provide additional supervision to children who are known to bite others. These incidents were reported to CCLD and the child\342\200\231s authorized representatives as required per regulations. During today\342\200\231s visit, the LPA also provided the center director with technical assistance and best practice recommendations regarding the use of incidental medical services (IMS) for children at the facility. Based on available information, it has been determined that there was no evidence of violations of regulations that occurred that lead to the bite incidents. This report was read and reviewed with the center director, Mandy McCarthy. There were no Title 22 violations cited during today's case management visit. The Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for 30 days.
