S1 and D1 reported that they were made aware of the alleged incident when a parent of a child in care called the facility on 12/20/23. S1 and D1 denied the allegation stating that they have never seen a child or have knowledge of a child punching another child in the crotch while in care. S1 and D1 both spoke of having received information of it happening outside of the facility. S1 and D1 gave detailed examples of conversations had with school-age children about undesired behaviors and how children are redirected when it is observed. D1 stated that when incidents occur, they support the children in learning self-help tools, talking things out and coming up with options. S2 reported that although she couldn\342\200\231t recall an incident involving a child punching the crotch of another child, she recalls stepping in to \342\200\234break children apart\342\200\235 and then helped them to work it out. S2 reported having conversations with parents about undesired behaviors, explaining what happened and making sure that they are aware. Children interviewed gave examples of children displaying undesired behavior, stating that their teacher called another teacher in for help and also told their parents. One child interviewed reported that they and another child did grab each other in the private area, but that it was just a joke and that it was a long time ago and that the teacher told the parents about it. Another child reported that a teacher gave a child a time-out after hearing that a child punched another in the private area. Each child interviewed gave examples of or stated that the teachers take care of problems between the children. Adults interviewed corroborated that they have received incident reports from the school or have been verbally told about incidents involving their children. The adults interviewed stated that they are happy with the care provided by Woodside West, feel fortunate to have found them, feel that the staff are communicative and feel that the facility is safe and well run. Although it may be true that C2 may have punched C1 in the crotch, there are conflicting accounts as to whether or not this specific incident occurred at the facility or that staff was aware that the undesired contact between children, involved a child getting punched in the crotch. Staff and children gave examples of how they intervene when conflict is observed between children and how staff communicate incidents or concerns to the children\342\200\231s guardians, demonstrating appropriate supervision, discipline, and reporting. Based on interviews conducted and records reviewed, although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED. There were no Title 22 deficiencies cited during today's inspection. Continue on LIC9099-C This report was reviewed and discussed with Facility Representatives, Allison Fields and Diana Dumbadse. Appeal Rights were provided. Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for 30 days from today's visit. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
