Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

An unannounced case management visit to the facility was made by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Y. Yang in response to an Unusual Incident Report (UIR) submitted by the facility on 05/09/25. During today's visit, the LPA met with the center director, Teresa Briare to discuss the incident and obtain additional details and provided technical assistance. The director reported that on 05/06/25, she observed a staff member (staff S1) consume alcohol while on the premises of the center. The director reported that the alcoholic beverage was not in its original container and appeared to be mixed with iced tea in a bottle. The director stated that she smelled the beverage and it smelled of alcohol. The director reported that S1's behavior appeared to be unusual and "overly excited" that day. The director reported that she confronted S1 regarding this and S1 denied consuming alcohol while at the premises and insisted that it was lemon juice in the bottle. The director reported that she then smelled the bottle again in the presence of S1 and confirmed that it was an alcoholic beverage. The director reported that she asked S1 to vacate the premises and notified her manager. The director reported that after consulting with her superiors, the decision to terminate S1's employment was made due to S1 violating the company's policy. The director reported that S1 resigned from her position effective 05/08/2025. The director reported that S1 was never alone in the building with any children and no children were harmed as a result of this incident. Additionally, the director reported that the alcoholic beverage was inaccessible to any child present. The director informed the LPA that this center does not provide any transportation services to children. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the center director, Teresa Briare. There were no Title 22 deficiencies cited during today's inspection.
