Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

The licensee stated that the authorized representative of child C1 was notified immediately, and C1 was transported to be examined by a medical professional. The licensee stated that although the bite broke skin in one area, no stitches were required. An antibiotic ointment was prescribed as a precaution. The licensee confirmed that her dog is up to date on all its immunizations. The licensee stated that Rohnert Park Animal Services and Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety were notified of the incident, and a representative from both agencies made follow-up visits to the facility. The licensee stated that following the visit from animal control services, her dog was placed on a mandatory ten day quarantine. A copy of reports from both agencies is on file with Community Care Licensing. This incident was reported to Community Care Licensing as required and a written Unusual Incident Report (UIR) was received from the facility. During the investigation, the LPA inspected the premises of the daycare facility and made observations. The LPA observed that the facility\342\200\231s dog run is in a fenced area in the home\342\200\231s side yard that is secured within a second fenced and gated area that is inaccessible to daycare children. In response to the incident, the licensee has implemented a new policy for her staff to follow. Effective immediately, licensee stated that her pets will be secured in an off-limits area during daycare operating hours and not to be commingled with the daycare children unless done so in a controlled environment and under direct staff supervision. Based on information obtained from interviews and the licensee\342\200\231s own admission, the preponderance of evidence standard has been met; therefore, the above allegation is found to be substantiated. California Code of Regulations, Title 22, is being cited on the attached LIC 9099-D. Appeal rights were provided. An exit interview was conducted, and this report was read and discussed with the licensee, Andrea Deason. The Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for 30 days.
