Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Glenn Ouye met with the Director regarding an incident which occurred on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 8:36am. The Director said that she and her staff were supervising 17 children when a parent who was dropping off a child lost control of the vehicle in the parking lot and hit the northeast corner of the building. There was no one in the classroom at the time of the accident. The parent and the child who were in the car were uninjured. The director said that one of her teachers called 911. Emergency services arrived. The fire department, police PG&E were on scene in minutes. A staff from the City of Healdsburg building department also came to the center to assess the building. The gas main and the electrical panel are located in that corner of the building but were undamaged. The building department employee suggested a contractor for the director to contact to see if they could evaluate the wall and make the environment safe for the children. It was determined that there was no structural damage but the exterior and interior wall damage would need to be repaired. On the same day as the incident the contractor did perform a temporary repair on the wall. There are plywood sheet on both interior and exterior walls. The staff have marked off the area so it will not be used until the repairs are completed. There are no hazards on the interior wall at this point. The contractor is putting together an estimate for repairs for the insurance company. The director is also considering alternatives for safety devices to prevent a car from hitting the building in the future. This is not a department regulation requirement The Director will submit the unusual Incident report and will notify the department when the contractor schedules the repairs.
