Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

A case management inspection was conducted at the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amy Strother in response to an increase capacity application received by the Department on 12/20/2024 from Licensees, Maricruz Aguilar & Juan Menera. The licensees are requesting a capacity of 14. The licensees stated they clearly understand the maximum number of children for whom care can be provided and the limitations on the number of infants (birth to age 2) that may be cared for and when two of the children in care must be school aged, and when an assistant provider must be present. A review of staff records indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. The facility was toured inside and outside. The facility\342\200\231s operating hours are midnight - 11:00pm, Monday - Friday. Licensees understand that 24-hour consecutive care is prohibited. The floor plan submitted by the licensees was reviewed and verified. The children have access to the entire home with the exception of the garage, made inaccessible by a locked door. The home was observed to be clean and orderly, and was at a comfortable indoor temperature. The children's bathroom is free of toxins. There is a working telephone in the home. Items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were stored out of the reach of children. There is a working combination smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher in the home. The fire pull station is located in the kitchen. The licensee has a current roster of children in care and has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months. There are no firearms in the home, and none were observed during the inspection. The home's back yard is fully fenced and is used for childcare. The left side yard/dog run area located in the backyard is off-limits, made inaccessible by a fence. There is no spa, pool, pond, or fountain on the premises. None shall be added without prior approval of the Licensing agency. All licensing reports are public information and must be made available upon request for at least three years. Licensee\342\200\231s Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid cards expire 07/2025. The Santa Rosa Fire Department inspected and granted a fire clearance on 01/17/2025, and was emailed to LPA Strother on 01/21/25. Continue on LIC809 - PAGE 2 PAGE 2 The increase capacity to 14, as a Large Family Child Care Home is granted as of today, 01/23/25. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Maricruz Aguilar. There were no Title 22 deficiencies cited during today's inspection.
