Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

A prelicensing inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), J. Snow and J. Agbayani. LPA met with facility representative Persida Kreider. Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 23 preschoolers, age 2-6 years in room #120. The capacity was reduced to 20 preschool, age 2-6years during todays visit because of limited inside square footage. Hours of operation will be Monday Thursday 8:30 am to 4:30 and Friday 8:30am to 12:30pm. Reduced hours in June/July/August. The facility is located in the Sonoma Community Center. The indoor and outdoor activity spaces were toured, and the facility sketch was verified. Children who nap go home early, however there is an option for resting with a nap mat in the room. The isolation area for sick children will be located in the room. The fire clearance was received on 1/24/24. The outdoor play area is fully fenced. There is an anchored climbing structure rated age 2-8 years for children to play on and adequate cushioning underneath. There is no pool, spa, pond, fountain, or any other body of water on the premises. The poisons are pad locked in janitors closet & cabinets. There is safe and age appropriate furniture, toys, and play equipment available for children. A capacity worksheet was completed during the visit. The inside, room square footage measured 728 ft. Children have access to at least 2 toilets & 2 sinks. The outside, yard square footage measured 5,250 ft. Based on above, which was NOT sufficient requiring a reduction in the requested capacity during todays inspection. The physical plant was inspected and found to be in compliance. A license will be issued, effective today for 20 preschool children age 2-6 years in room #120. continued Criminal Record Clearance - Child Care Centers: Persida Kreider was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
