Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 05/13/2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Xona Xayavong conducted an unannounced case management – licensee-initiated inspection. LPA met with Licensee Julie Abston. Licensee’s assistants and husband were also present. LPA toured the facility inside and outside, and a census was taken. The purpose of today’s visit was to inspect the kitchen and living room that was recently added to the LIC 999A Facility Sketch Floor Plan. LPA obtained a copy of the updated facility sketch. During today’s visit, LPA observed the kitchen cabinets were locked and hazardous items were made inaccessible. Licensee stated she will utilize the kitchen area to provide care for infants. LPA observed two play yards for the infants enrolled to the facility and age-appropriate equipment for infants. LPA observed there is one fireplace in the home located in the living room and is made inaccessible by a screen and will not be in use during daycare hours. LPA observed there is a child safety gate to prevent access to the inaccessible rooms (bedrooms and hallway bathroom). LPA observed no hazardous items in the kitchen and living room. As of 05/13/2025, the kitchen and living room is approved for use by children in care. Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies were cited. An exit interview was conducted with Licensee Julie Abston. A copy of this report was reviewed with and provided to the licensee. This report shall be made available to the public upon request. The LIC 9213 Notice of Site Visit form is required to be posted for 30 days.
