Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 3/21/2025, Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Juvenal Moctezuma and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Valentin Hernandez conducted an unannounced inspection that was initiated by licensee (Patterson Preschool Academy). LPM and LPA met with Coordinator of Early Childhood Services, Teresa Reyna and Supervisor of Early Childhood Services, Kristine Diaz. LPM and LPA introduced themselves and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPM and LPA toured the facility, and a census was taken. The purpose of today's unannounced inspection was to measure and inspect playground C. Licensee submitted a waiver request to use playground C to alleviate congestion on all playgrounds. Playground C would be an additional play area for their preschool children. After further review, it was documented that Playground C has a different address than the preschool license. Teresa indicated that they would obtain documentation from the city to see if that address was ever combined with their school. Playground A, B, C were measured. All three playgrounds measured to an approximate 43,361.97 square feet which meets their current licensed capacity of 133 preschool children. During the inspection of play yard "C,\342\200\235 LPM and LPA observed on the playground there are two features (water pipes) that cannot be fenced in, Per Teresa Reyna, per fire marshal, the fire hydrant and accessory (red structure that stands roughly about 4 feet tall). LPM and LPA observed a climbing structure with the age-appropriate sticker reflecting 2 to 5 years old. There is a covered sand box which will provide shade for children in care. LPM and LPA observed 3 trashcans with no covers. LPA and LPM observed rust on metal fence. Continued on LIC 809C Teresa will submit documentation indicating that the building was built after 2010 so they will not be required to test their drinking fountains for lead. A work order has been submitted to ensure the rust on the metal fence gets addressed. Paperwork will be submitted proving that the building was built after 2010. Proof of all corrections and documentation is requested prior to approve additional area. Exit interview conducted with Supervisor of Early Childhood Services, Kristine Diaz.
