What the inspector wrote

On 7/1/24, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joe Pacheco conducted announced case management inspection and met with Stanislaus County Office of Education Director II (Director II), Jewelee Lemus. LPA toured the inside and outside of the facility. The licensee is Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE), and they are requesting a capacity increase from 15 preschool children to 24 preschool children by adding Classroom 1. Preschool program currently operates in Classroom 2. This program currently operates year round Monday \342\200\223 Friday 7:30 am \342\200\223 5:30 pm. Facility provided breakfast, lunch & PM snack. Food will be prepared at Sylvan Union School District\342\200\231s centralized kitchen and delivered to the facility daily. Facility does have a kitchenette on the premises. Ill children will be isolated in the Director\342\200\231s office and utilize the staff bathroom located in the entry way. Cleaning supplies are inaccessible to children. The classrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in the classroom appeared to be safe and in good condition. Facility has a working carbon monoxide detector in the classroom. LPA observed that there are plenty of tables, chairs and cubbies. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate items & toys. Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Director II. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 1,003 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 24 preschool children. There are a total of 2 toilets and 4 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate 24 preschool children. Facility uses public water to provide drinking water to children during indoor activities. Facility will be providing paper cups for water consumption out of a paper cup dispenser for indoor activities. LPA observed a water fountain outside which Director II states will be used during outdoor activities. The outdoor activity area measured to an approximate 2,044 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 24 preschool children. LPA observed a high climbing play structure which is age appropriate. Facility is using rubber cushioning in the high climbing play equipment area to provide adequate cushioning. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C A fire clearance request for the above classrooms for 24 preschool children was approved by the City of Modesto Fire Department on 6/26/24 but further clarification is needed regarding building occupancy classification. Pending a final file review and the clarification provided by the Modesto Fire Department, a recommendation will be made to license the above facility for a capacity of 24 preschool children. Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Stanislaus County Office of Education Director II, Jewelee Lemus. A notice of site visit was given to Director II and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. A copy of this report is to remain in the facility for public review.
