On 05/12/2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Aurelio Mendoza conducted a Case Management \342\200\223 Licensee Initiated inspection to evaluate the addition of a Hip Shade structure in the daycare\342\200\231s outdoor playground area. LPA met with Director Peggy Smith, conducted a tour of the facility, and took a census of children in care. The Hip Shade, measuring 25ft x 25ft x 8ft, is installed in the gated playground area and provides shade over the children's play structure. Per Director Peggy Smith, the installation was completed by an approved contractor between April 28, 2025 and May 1, 2025. During construction, children were kept out of the work zone and utilized an alternate outdoor play area. The Child Care Licensing Division was notified of the structure\342\200\231s readiness on 05/07/2025 while LPA Aurelio Mendoza was Officer of the Day. During the inspection, LPA observed that the Hip Shade was securely installed and that playground equipment, including a slide, was adequately cushioned with wood chips to absorb falls. LPA also reviewed and observed installation specifications and related documentation. LPA advised Director Peggy Smith to retain all installation records on file for future reference or servicing. The Hip Shade structure is approved for use effective immediately. No deficiencies were cited during this inspection per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1 of the California Code of Regulations. A copy of the Appeal Rights was provided to Director Peggy Smith. A Notice of Site Visit was issued and must remain posted for 30 days.
