Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Martinez conducted an unannounced complaint visit and met with Director Laura Pacheco. It was alleged the facility does not provide a variety of age-appropriate equipment for children to participate in outdoor activities. LPA Martinez interviewed 3 witnesses who all stated toys are brought over from the classroom and another side of the play area for use. Although this area was not a used area for play prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this area was subject to review during the Department of Social Services RAST calls with LPA Chavez. The Director denied this allegation stating they bring not only a rolling tray of toys for the children but provide water for children in the separated areas. They also allow for children of each group to go to the bigger play area so they all have a turn every other day. Interviews with 3 witnesses today 7/1/21 stated that children do prefer the larger area but have fun and enjoy this area now that it has been a few months utilizing it. It was also alleged shade is not provided outside for children. The Director denied this allegation stating she believed the trees provided enough shade for children to sit at tables and play while they did not have a permanent structure. The witnesses and Director stated children do not come outside when there are high temperatures. LPA Martinez observed large trees providing shade during todays visit. During today's visit LPA Martinez and Director Pacheco discussed a possible end date to the extra area once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted additionally. Notice of site visit must be posted for 30 days. No citations were issued during today's visit.
