Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

(Page 2) One individual in addition to the reporting party reported inappropriate children\342\200\231s behaviors or interactions at the childcare facility; however, neither they nor the complainant were able to provide specific details, including possible witnesses or time frames. Four (4) parents who were interviewed had no concerns regarding supervision or children\342\200\231s interactions at this time, and two (2) children confirmed that staff supervise their activities. During his own classroom observations, LPA Nguyen observed an adequate level of child supervision. LPA also learned that teachers at Columbia College Child Development Center have implemented supervision plans and strategies to ensure the safety of the children while they attend the childcare center. During today\342\200\231s visit, LPAs discussed with facility representatives some effective strategies for children\342\200\231s supervision\342\200\224in all inside and outside areas of the facility. Based on conflicting information obtained from the interviews, LPA Nguyen is unable to determine whether staff did or did not fail to supervise children which resulted in children inappropriately touching. Therefore, this complaint allegation was found to be UNSUBSTANTIATED, meaning although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur at the facility. An exit interview was conducted in which appeal rights were provided and a copy of this report was provided and reviewed with the facility representative/director, Kelly Thomas. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
