What the inspector wrote

On August 4, 2021 at 12:14 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Francisco Pedroza conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA contacted the facility and conducted Covid-19 screening questions prior to entering the facility. LPA met with facility Director Sarah Hutson and advised her the purpose of the inspection. There was 29 children in care at the time of the inspection. This center operates from 7:00 AM - 6:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This is a combined center with School-age and infant programs. LPA observed required licensing documents posted on the wall at the entrance of the facility. A snack/lunch schedule was observed. The facility provides a morning and afternoon snack for children in care. Children have the option to bring lunch from home or purchase one from the facility. The facility has four (4) classrooms available for care. They are currently using three (3) classrooms. Each classroom has a restroom with enough sinks and toilets readily accessible to children in care. LPA did not observe hazards/toxins accessible to children in care. LPA observed each classroom has an ample amount of age appropriate toys, books, and furniture readily accessible to children in care. The facility provides children staying the whole day a cot for sleeping during quiet time if they choose to sleep. LPA observed children not sleeping being provided other options/activities during quiet time like reading a book. LPA observed where children's medication is properly secured. The playground has ample amount of shade. LPA observed the playground has age appropriate toys and structures readily accessible for children in care. The facility has water available inside and out. They bring a water pitcher for children. Children have their own labeled water bottles. During the facilities summer program, children are provided a personal water bottle and shirt. Continued on 809-C A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. LPA observed children's files to be current and complete. LPA observed staff files to be current and complete. LPA verified SB792 Child Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis requirements. Teachers/Aides meet the required qualifications. Teachers/Aides present have a current Pediatric CPR/First-Aid certificate that expire on 2/11/2023. Teachers/Aides present have current Mandated Reporter certificates that expire on 6/8/2022. LPA spoke with Director about new Covid-19 requirements. The facility is following current Covid-19 requirements. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.
