What the inspector wrote

On September 2, 2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required - 3 Year inspection at the above mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with teacher Brent Friedlander and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 11 children were present. LPA in the company of teacher, Brent Friedlander toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. LPA notes the CCC uses one classroom and yard for child care purposes. LPA observed the interior of the CCC to be clean and orderly. LPA observed the classroom to have sufficient space and ventilation for children in care. LPA observed the classroom to have age appropriate toys and equipment that are in good in condition. LPA observed accessible lower cabinets to be free of hazards. LPA observed the bathroom used for the children to be in sanitary and working conditions. LPA observed the classroom to have a functioning carbon monoxide detector and LPA was informed the classroom has functioning smoke detectors that are regularly tested. LPA was informed the children bring their own meals from home. LPA was informed children are provided filtered water in their refillable bottles from a dispenser. LPA observed the children's outdoor area to be completely enclosed. LPA observed the yard to have age appropriate equipment for children in care. LPA observed the yard to have sufficient shading and to be free of hazards. LPA observed the yard to have play structures with sand being used for the fall zones. LPA observed a shed containing children's toys and equipment. No bodies of water were observed on site. LPA reviewed a sampling of children's files which were found to be current and complete. LPA reviewed files of staff present and observed they were complete. CONTINUED PAGE LIC 809 LPA observed at least one staff to have a current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certificate which was completed on 2/12/25. The last emergency drill was conducted on 9/15/25. Staff was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. No deficiencies were issued during today's inspection. Exit interview was conducted with Teacher Brent Friedlander. Notice of site visit was given and appeal rights were given.
