What the inspector wrote

On March 9, 2023 at 9:43 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Rona Chavez and Giovanni Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPAs met with facility Director Monica Hayes and advised her the purpose of the inspection. Director provided LPAs a tour of the facility inside and out. There were 58 children in care with twelve (12) staff providing supervision. LPAs observed required licensing documents mounted on the wall at the entrance of the facility. The facility uses 6 classrooms for the Preschool. The facility has enough restrooms available for the children in care. LPAs observed the boys restroom to be used as a storage with book shelf, storage of sleeping mats and storage containers. LPA advised Director to properly store items in the bathroom and to remove the storage from the sink area. LPAs did not observe any toxins accessible to children in care. Each of the classrooms have age appropriate toys and furniture readily accessible for children. LPAs observed functioning carbon monoxide detectors, first aide kits and fire extinguishers through out the facility. Facility provides children that are staying full day a sleeping mat during quiet time if they choose to sleep. Facility does not provide meals, children bring lunch and snack. The outdoor playground has an ample amount of space for children to play. LPAs observed the playground has age appropriate toys and structures available for children to use. The playground has ample amount of shade available. The facility has water available for children inside and out. Center uses hand written sign-in and sign-out logs. A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. Teachers have required qualifications. Teachers present have current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificates that expire on 08/2024. Continued on 809-C Teachers present have current AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificates that expire on 05/2024. LPAs verified SB 792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis Requirements. Last fire drill was conducted on 01/30/2023. Center has a toddler class room and did not have 15 min check logs available. Center staff check on the children during nap time but documentation was not provided. LPA provided information to Director regarding safe sleep. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection. Two (2) Technical Violations were issued during today's inspection A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director Monica Hayes.
