What the inspector wrote

On 5/22/25 at 1:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Diaz attempted to conducted an unannounced Required inspection. LPA was advised by the elementary school office staff that the YMCA will be arriving around 1:30. LPA waited in the office lobby. At 1:25 PM LPA met with site supervisor Madison Decker and advised them of the purpose of the inspection. Site Supervisor provided LPA a tour of the center inside and out. There were no children in care at the time of the inspection due to the program start time being 2:08pm. This site is an after-school program. At 2:18 LPA counted 14 children in care with 2 staff 1 assistant . Center is open M-F from after school to 6:00PM. LPA observed required licensing documents pined on the wall at the entrance of the classroom. Last fire drill was conducted on 2/19/25, earthquake 4/11/25, lock down drill 3/5/25. The classrooms has age-appropriate toys, activities, and furniture accessible for children in care. LPA observed school site restrooms available for children to use. LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children. First Aid kit was observed in the classroom. Currently the center uses an App called Daxko for sign-in and sign-out. Site supervisor stated they send monthly newsletters with snack menu also the center will email, text, call, or in person communication with parents/guardians. Center provides afternoon snack. Center uses school site field for outside play and outside activities. LPA observed the playground has age-appropriate toys and structures available for children to use. A sampling of 4 children and 2 staff records were reviewed. LPA observed children's files to be complete and current. Staff mandated reporter certification are all current. LPA verified SB792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis requirements. Site supervisor was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the site supervisor Madison Decker. No deficiencies were cited.
