What the inspector wrote

On June 13, 2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required - 3 Year inspection at the above-mentioned Family Child Care Home. LPA met with licensee Linda Carlson and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection no children were present. LPA in the company of the licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. LPA notes the home primarily uses the living room, 1 bathroom, backyard and side patio for child care purposes. LPA observed the living room to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the living room to have sufficient space and ventilation. LPA observed the kitchen to be accessible. LPA observed sharps and medication to be stored on an elevated surface beyond the reach of children in care. LPA observed the lower kitchen cabinets to be free of hazards. LPA observed cleaning compounds to stored in the pantry that is secured with a latch beyond the reach of children in care. LPA observed the bathroom used for children to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the backyard to be completely enclosed. LPA observed the backyard to have sufficient space for children's activities. LPA reminded licensee they must ensure the backyard is free of hazards when children are present. LPA observed the patio used for children to be have sufficient space for children's activities. LPA discussed active supervision in the patio. LPA observed the FCCH to have a smoke and a carbon monoxide detector which were tested at 10:01AM and found in working order. The FCCH to have a regulation fire extinguisher which was purchase on 1/8/2025. LPA reminded licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. CONTINUED PAGE 2 LPA reviewed children's records which were found to be complete. LPA notes the facility does not care for infants. LPA observed licensee's Mandated Reporter Training to be current (completed 7/4/2023).Further, licensee's CPR/First Aid was completed on 8/15/2023. LPA reminded licensee that it is their responsibility to ensure all training and certifications are current. Licensee stated there are no fire arms in the home. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. CONTINUED PAGE 3 During the exit interview, the Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. No deficiencies were issued during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Linda Carlson. Appeal Rights were given.
