What the inspector wrote

On 01/16/26 at 9:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez (Diaz conducted an unannounced Required inspection. LPA met with licensee Elia Tellez Maya and advised the purpose of the inspection. Licensee provided LPA a tour of the home inside and out. There were 2 children in care at the time of the inspection. LPA observed required licensing documents taped on the window facing the public at the entrance of the home. Fire and earthquake drills are being documented every six months. Last drill was conducted on 12/17/25. Fire extinguisher 2A10BC was observed on a cabinet in the dinning room area and was last serviced 02/21/25. Fire and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and working. Test time 10:40am. The home is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath 1- story home with a front and side yard. Children in care have access to 1 bedroom (playroom), restroom, kitchen, dinning area, living room, and front yard. In the kitchen the knives and medicines are kept in a cabinet above the refrigerator. Cleaning supplies are being kept in a top cabinet in a hall closet keep out of reach from children. Children have access to toys that are age-appropriate inside and outside of the home. Front yard play area is enclosed and has plenty of space, toys, and activities for children. During the tour, LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children in care.LPA observed the home to be orderly and clean. No bodies of water were observed on site. LPA reviewed 4 children files. All children files were current. Licensee CPR/first aid is valid through 04/07/27. Licensee was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com mandated reporter certificate is valid until 04/02/27 Continued on 809-C To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA's also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA observed a safe sleep log being documented for infants in care every 15 minutes. Continued on 809-C Licensee advised there were no children in care that required Incidental Medical Services. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During the exit interview, the Licensee Elia Tellez Maya, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. During today's inspection no citations issued notice of site visit was issued. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with licensee Elia Tellez Maya.
