What the inspector wrote

On August 20, 2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Case Management - Annual Continuation inspection at the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Director Jessica Derby and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 27 children were present. LPA observed required postings to be located in a prominent are of the CCC's office LPA observed the last emergency drill was conducted on 8/6/2025. Daily activity schedules and snack menus were observed thought the facility. LPA in the company of the director toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. LPA notes the CCC uses three classrooms for children in care. LPA observed all three classrooms to have sufficient space and ventilation for children in care. LPA observed the classrooms to have age appropriate toys and equipment that are in good condition. LPA observed all classrooms to have their own bathrooms and sinks for children, which were all found in working order. LPA observed lower classroom cabinets to be free of hazards or secured. LPA reminded director they must ensure all hazardous items are inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed each classroom to have its own outdoor area and a larger outdoor area to combine the preschool license classrooms. LPA observed each yard to have age appropriate equipment that is in good condition. LPA observed the classroom yards to have plenty of space and shading for children in care. LPA observed the large yard for all children to have sufficient space and shading as well. LPA observed equipment to be age appropriate and in good condition as well. LPA observed the climbing structures and swings to have foam padding in the fall zones. LPA observed storage sheds in the the yards to contain children's equipment and to be free of hazards. LPA observed the all yards to be completely enclosed. CONTINUED PAGE 2 A samplings of children's files were conducted. LPAs observed all children's files to be current and complete. LPA reviewed files for the staff present which were found to be current and complete as well. LPA observed at least one staff member had a current CPR/First Aid certificate. LPA observed the sign in/out to be completed digitally and that children present were signed in. LPA observed classrooms to have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Director informed LPA they are tested regularly. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. No deficiencies were issued during today's inspection. Exit interview was conducted with Director Jessica Derby and notice of site visit was given.
